What does a freight forwarder do?
A freight forwarder arranges the movement of goods from origin to destination. That includes booking space with ocean, air, and trucking carriers, coordinating pickup and handoffs along the way, preparing shipping documents, and keeping the shipper updated until the freight arrives.
Is Forge a licensed NVOCC?
Yes. Forge’s freight forwarding operates under its licensed subsidiary, Forge Forwarding LLC.
What is the difference between a freight forwarder and a customs broker?
A freight forwarder moves the goods, arranging transportation and documentation. A customs broker clears the goods, preparing and filing the entry with U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Forge does both, so the same shipment data carries through from booking to release.
Which shipping modes does Forge support?
Forge arranges ocean freight, including full container (FCL) and less-than-container (LCL) loads, air freight, and trucking, including full truckload (FTL), less-than-truckload (LTL), and drayage to and from ports. Our team can compare options on cost and transit time before you book.
Can Forge handle customs clearance for my freight too?

How early should I book a shipment?
As early as possible, especially during peak season. Booking ahead gives our team more carrier options and more time to collect documents before the cargo sails or flies.
